Out of Lovable credits or Bolt tokens? Your options and what each costs

When Lovable credits and Bolt tokens reset, what top-ups cost, what rolls over, and the cheapest way to keep building once you hit zero. Every number comes from each company's own pricing page and help docs.

Quick answer

On Lovable, Free users get 5 new build credits at 00:00 UTC each day (30 a month at most) and can't buy top-ups, so the options are to wait or upgrade. Pro starts at $25 a month for 100 credits, and Pro users can buy top-ups at $15 for 50 credits. On Bolt, Free gives 1M tokens a month with a 300K daily cap. The daily cap resets every day and the monthly allowance resets on the 1st. Pro starts at $25 a month for 10M tokens. Bolt only sells token reloads on its top monthly Pro tier and on annual Pro plans, so most people get more tokens by upgrading. Paid credits and tokens roll over on both tools, but only while you keep paying.

Ran out of Lovable credits

What stops and what keeps working

How Lovable credits reset

Free users get 5 build credits a day, which refresh at 00:00 UTC, up to 30 in a month. Use 5 a day for 6 days and you are done until the 1st. Paid plans get their monthly credits on the same date each month as the subscription started, plus 5 daily credits with no monthly cap. Daily credits expire at the end of each day, so they don't stack up.

Lovable top-ups

Top-ups are only on Pro and Business, and only workspace admins and owners can buy them, under Workspace settings, Plans & credit usage. On Pro it is $15 per 50 credits, which is $0.30 a credit. On Business it is $30 per 50 credits. You can buy 50 up to 10,000 at a time. Top-up credits last 12 months, and Lovable spends the credits closest to expiry first.

Auto top-up buys credits for you when your balance drops to 25, 50 or 100 credits, up to a monthly limit you set. That limit resets on the 1st of each month at 00:00 UTC, not with your billing date.

Does Lovable roll over unused credits?

Yes, on paid plans, as long as the subscription stays active. Monthly plan credits expire 2 months after they are issued. On a yearly plan, they expire 1 month after the yearly period ends. Free daily credits do not roll over.

Ran out of Bolt tokens

How Bolt tokens reset

On the Free plan you get 1M tokens a month with a 300K daily cap. The daily cap resets every day, and unused daily tokens don't carry over. The monthly allowance resets on the 1st. If you hit the daily cap, Bolt says you can still edit your code by hand in Code view, which uses no tokens. On a paid plan, tokens reset on your renewal date each month, and Pro has no daily cap.

One catch: if you cancel a paid plan mid-month after using more than 1M tokens, you wait until the next month for free tokens.

Bolt token reloads

Bolt sells extra tokens, called reloads, only on the highest individual monthly Pro plan and on annual Pro plans. Reload tokens never expire. Bolt doesn't publish the reload price. It shows it in My Subscription, and on annual plans higher tiers pay less per 10M tokens. For everyone else, Bolt says upgrading to a higher tier is the most cost-effective way to get more tokens.

Upgrading mid-month on Bolt

If you move up a monthly tier mid-cycle, you pay only the price difference and get the token difference right away. Your renewal date stays the same. Bolt's own example: Pro 50 is $50 for 26M tokens and Pro 100 is $100 for 55M, so that upgrade costs $50 and adds 29M tokens. Downgrades take effect at your next billing date, so you can step back down if it was a one-off month. Bolt subscriptions are non-refundable.

Does Bolt roll over unused tokens?

Yes, on paid plans. Unused tokens stay valid for 2 months from the start of the billing cycle you got them in, and Bolt spends the oldest tokens first. If you cancel, you lose access to all tokens when the cycle ends, but you get the unexpired ones back if you subscribe again in time. Free tokens don't roll over.

On shared projects, collaborators who edit use tokens from their own account, not yours.

The cheapest way to keep building

Move some work to a cheaper toolReplit Core $20, v0 Plus $30, Base44 Starter $16 billed yearlySameYou want a second free allowance, or a cheaper plan for a side project

Some quick math on Lovable. Pro 100 works out to $0.25 a credit and a top-up costs $0.30. If you are short 50 credits once, a $15 top-up is cheaper than moving to Pro 200 for $25 more that month, and the top-up credits last a year. If you run short every month, the bigger tier gives you more credits per dollar. Lovable's docs say the same.

On Bolt, the bigger tiers give you more tokens per dollar. Pro is $2.50 per 1M tokens, Pro 50 about $1.92 and Pro 100 about $1.82. Since most Pro users can't buy reloads, a mid-cycle upgrade is the usual top-up, and you can schedule a downgrade for the next cycle.

Cheaper tools tracked on VibeCost

If you keep running out, a second tool with its own free allowance can carry a side project. Lovable's docs cover importing projects from Bolt, Replit and v0. Bolt's help center covers importing from Lovable. You can also move code through GitHub.

Ways to make credits last longer

FAQ

When do Lovable credits reset?

Daily build credits and the daily chat allowance refresh every day at 00:00 UTC. On the Free plan, monthly grants refresh on the 1st of each month at 00:00 UTC. On Pro and Business, monthly credits arrive on the same date each month as your subscription started.

When do Bolt tokens reset?

On the Free plan, the 300K daily cap resets every day and the 1M monthly allowance resets on the 1st of each month. On a paid plan, tokens reset on your renewal date. If you subscribed on July 15, they reset on the 15th of each month.

Can I buy more Lovable credits on the Free plan?

No. Top-ups are only for Pro and Business. On Free you can wait for tomorrow's 5 daily credits or upgrade. Free daily credits stop once you reach 30 in a month, so after that the next credits come on the 1st.

How much does a Lovable top-up cost?

On Pro it is $15 for 50 credits, which is $0.30 a credit. On Business it is $30 for 50 credits. The price is the same on monthly and yearly billing, and top-up credits last 12 months.

How do I buy more Bolt tokens?

Bolt says upgrading to a higher tier is the most cost-effective way. Token reloads are only sold on the highest individual monthly Pro plan and on annual Pro plans, and Bolt shows the reload price in your subscription settings rather than on its pricing page. Reload tokens never expire.

Do unused credits or tokens roll over?

On paid plans, yes. Unused Lovable monthly plan credits roll over while your subscription is active and expire 2 months after they were issued. Unused Bolt tokens roll over while you stay on a paid plan and stay valid for 2 months from the start of the billing cycle you got them in. Free credits and tokens do not roll over on either tool.

What happens to my rolled-over credits if I cancel?

On Lovable, your credits stay usable until the end of the billing period, and they come back if you subscribe again before they expire. On Bolt, you lose access to all tokens, rollover included, when the billing cycle ends. Subscribe again before they expire and you get the unexpired ones back.

Does my Lovable app go offline when I run out of credits?

Your published pages stay live. AI features in the app stop, and apps that use Lovable's built-in backend pause until you add credits. Lovable keeps the data, but you can't reach it until you select Wake up in the project's Database view.
